Example values shown; replace them with yours. The benefit requires a doctor’s restriction and proof the expense was incurred. Expenses more than one year before a lawsuit may be lost to the one-year-back rule.
How the calculation works
Michigan law pays reasonable expenses for services you would have done for yourself and your household, up to $20 per day, for the first three years after the crash (MCL 500.3107(1)(c)). The calculator counts the days between the crash and the earlier of the restriction ending or the three-year mark, then applies your daily cost and the number of days a week help is needed.

Questions people ask us
Can a family member be paid for replacement services?
Yes. The person doing the chores can be a relative or friend. You need a doctor’s note restricting you from the tasks and a log of what was done each day.
Is the $20 a day automatic?
No. The benefit pays reasonable expenses actually incurred, up to $20 a day. If someone does an hour of work for $10, the claim for that day is $10.
When does the benefit end?
Three years after the crash, or sooner if your doctor lifts the restriction.
