Michigan’s no-fault wage loss maximum rises to $7,455

For crashes on or after October 1, 2026, the most PIP will pay in work loss or survivors’ loss is $7,455 for each 30-day period, up from $7,201.

The Department of Insurance and Financial Services adjusts the cap every October for changes in the cost of living, as MCL 500.3107(1)(b) requires. Bulletin 2026-20-INS sets the new figure for crashes from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. It is prorated for shorter periods of lost work.

Which cap applies to you

The cap is fixed by the date of your crash, not the date you lost the income. Someone hurt in August 2026 stays at $7,201 per 30 days for the whole three years of benefits. Someone hurt in November 2026 gets $7,455.

Who this affects

The cap only matters if 85% of your gross income is more than the cap, which means earning roughly $8,770 or more a month before taxes. If you earn above that, the income PIP does not cover can be claimed from the at-fault driver.

Survivors’ loss

The same maximum applies to survivors’ loss benefits paid to the dependents of someone killed in a crash.
